The Fund Joins in on "Our Health, Our Future: Our Lobby Day"

Updated: Jan 9

On Tuesday, November 18th, The Fund for Women and Girls was proud to be in Harrisburg for “Our Health, Our Future: Our Lobby Day” — a collective effort to advance policies that support women, girls, and families across Pennsylvania.

The day centered several critical issues impacting health and safety across the Commonwealth, including:

  • Strengthening reproductive healthcare access

  • Creating a public paid family leave program through the Family Care Act

  • Protecting individuals with pre-existing conditions

  • Supporting Name Change Reform legislation

  • Improving maternal health outcomes, including insurance-funded blood pressure cuffs during pregnancy

What made the day especially meaningful was its framing:

Our Health, Our Future is about care, community well-being, and shared responsibility — not partisanship.

Not only did over 100 advocates join the rally, but 67 legislative meetings occurred, covering more than 25% of the entire legislature to discuss these critical issues. This was a group effort, and we appreciate all of the organizations and advocates who showed up to support women’s health.

The event had us partnering with:

  • American Association of University Women

  • AccessMatters

  • ACLU-PA

  • Family Health Councils of Central PA

  • Maternity Care Coalition

  • MomsRising

  • NCJW Greater Philadelphia

  • NCJW Pittsburgh

  • PA Religious Coalition for Reproductive Justice

  • Pennsylvanians Together

  • Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates

  • The Fund for Women and Girls

  • The Pennsylvania Coalition of LGBTQ Organizations

  • The Women’s Centers

  • Women’s Law Project

The day was bolstered with a real sense of community. Everyone’s presence, energy, and commitment made the day truly meaningful. All the swag (t-shirts, bags, pins, and other materials) created a festive event with all showing up with passion, purpose, and care. There was even a “Rage and Engage room” that provided a space for advocates to decompress, learn, and take additional actions on numerous bills on women’s health.
