The Supreme Court’s ruling today upheld a federal law that banned individuals with restraining orders as a result of domestic violence from legally purchasing firearms.  We applaud this decision and efforts to protect women and girls from domestic violence. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority’s opinion, “Since the Founding, the Nation’s firearm laws have included regulations to stop individuals who threaten physical harm to others from misusing firearms.”

1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, with women of color and Latinas experiencing it at greater rates. To learn more about the impact of domestic violence and women in Chester County, visit our website www.thefundcc.org/research
