WE NEED YOUR HELP TO
PASS THE FAMILY CARE ACT!

For nearly two years, The Fund, our volunteers, and community members have been championing The Family Care Act alongside Children's First, Maternity Care Coalition, and the Family Care Coalition. The bill’s prime sponsors, Rep O’Mara in the House and Senators Robinson and Collett  in the Senate have worked tirelessly to get the Family Care Act passed.

On Wednesday, March 25th, the House passed the bill!

On Wednesday, June 10th, the Family Care Act passed out of the Senate's Labor and Industry committee! (The vote was 9-2.)

What happens next?

Now that it has passed out of committee, Senate leadership can call the bill for a vote on the Senate floor.

If the bill passes the Senate, lawmakers will still need to reconcile differences between the Senate and House versions before a final bill can be sent to the Governor for signature.

Understanding the process is critical to advocacy and to make more sense of it,

check out our "How a bill becomes a law” webpage.

What can YOU do?

Help us advocate for the Senate to pass the Family Care Act!

We need as many people as possible to reach out to Senate to let them know that

PA supports and needs the Family Care Act. Below is a step-by-step guide for the process. If you have any questions, email our Director of Advocacy and Policy

Blake Emmanuel at bemmanuel@thefundcc.org.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1.

Figure out who you are contacting

In this case, we are suggesting you reach put to the following Senators

  • Leadership (Senators Kim Ward and Joe Pittman)

  • Your Senator - if you do not know who your senator is click here.

2.

Determine HOW you are contacting them

  • Phone and/or email

  • Phone numbers are available on their individual websites for all of their offices (Harrisburg and District)

  • Emails usually are not available on their websites if you need email addresses reach out to Blake Emmanuel at bemmanuel@thefundcc.org.

3.

Create and practice what you will say/write

4.

Make the call(s) /send the email(s)!

  • Lather, Rinse, Repeat ... you can and should continue to call, email, and meet with legislators. If they are not hearing from you, they are hearing from people (often paid lobbyist) who oppose what we support. We have to make our voices heard!
