Have you ever wanted to get involved in making a change but weren’t sure where to start? Are you passionate about issues but don’t know enough about policy change to feel comfortable advocating?

Are you familiar with how to make change, but want to learn more about how to advocate specifically for a paid family leave program here in PA?

Do you want to get involved with addressing women’s issues with a like-minded community?

Whether you are a seasoned advocate or brand new to advocacy work – we want you to get involved!

This group was designed to provide real-time information and understanding, through the lens of paid family leave policy, for anyone wanting to get more involved. This “choose your own adventure” style volunteer opportunity meets you where you are – with opportunities to participate in person, online, and asynchronous, your schedule won’t be an issue in your participation.

While the primary goal is to get a paid family leave program created in Pennsylvania, volunteers will learn throughout the process – be it about government and how to engage legislators or strategy and to-do items specifically about paid family leave.

Our paid leave advocacy group provides (but does NOT require you to participate in):

  • Monthly virtual meetings that cover what has been going on and what next steps are

  • Email follow-ups with notes and tangible action items after meetings

  • Intermittent emails with additional action items based on more timely events

  • “Do to” items with support! When the “ask” is to contact a legislator, templets, scripts, and contact information will be provided

  • Trips to Harrisburg to advocate in person!

  • Occasional in person gatherings to grow advocacy skills and be in community
