Grantee Partner:
The Garage Community & Youth Center
When two distinct missions align for a single, powerful cause, the impact multiplies exponentially.
At The Fund, we believe that to truly tackle gender discrimination, we must consider two factors: the intersectional nature of gender discrimination and who is most impacted by the systems that uphold that discrimination. That is why we chose to do a listening session last fall at The Garage Community and Youth Center. After thoughtful consideration, we decided to tackle a systemic issue hiding in plain sight within school hallways - period poverty by working directly with the students at The Garage.

As a part of this collaboration, The Fund provided The Garage with a Gender Equity Grant.
This bridged the gap in financial resources and grassroots expertise,
supporting The Garage’s staff time assisting with the program.
The true magic of this collaboration, however, rests in its ultimate goal:
transforming the students themselves into the architects of lasting change.
Through targeted advocacy training, youth participants are learning how to evaluate school policies, craft compelling narratives, and confidently step up to the microphone at local school board meetings.
By partnering with The Garage, we ensure these students receive multifaceted support, meeting them exactly where they are to help them reach their goals. United by a shared vision, The Fund and The Garage are equipping students with the civic tools required to demand systemic policy changes that will protect future generations.
By pairing grant funding and advocacy education,
The Fund is creating a lasting impact to reduce gender discrimination.
