Chester County OIC

A General Partner Grant was awarded to Chester County OIC in Coatesville to support their adult tutoring, language classes, and workforce development programs for women and gender-expansive individuals. OIC focuses on reducing poverty by “Opening opportunities for individuals to prepare for sustainable employment and financial independence through education, training and support services.”  According to the MIT Living Wage Calculator (https://livingwage.mit.edu/counties/42029) , a single mother with 1 child must earn an hourly wage of $53.01 to afford living in Chester County.  OIC helps women to move beyond minimum wage work to focus on a career that has the potential to provide a living wage.
